En Puerto Rico se han encontrado unas 35 especies de abeja que no son de miel y pueden anidar dondequiera, y todas son polinizadoras. (USGS Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab)

Three new bee species were discovered in the southern crop zones of Puerto Rico by the Peruvian ecologist, Sara Prado. These new species are being investigated to better understand their habits and contributions to the ecosystem.
