Ph.D. Program at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

The graduate program at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory offers an innovative Ph.D. curriculum that takes advantage of the unique environment and extensive resources offered by the Laboratory.

The program is designed for students to complete their studies in approximately 5 years. To this end, they receive extensive mentoring throughout, with an academic as well as a research mentor, and complete their course work, rotations, and qualifying exam within the first year. All students are fully funded by the school—stipends, tuition, and research costs—giving them the freedom to join any lab, irrespective of whether that lab has other funding for them. In addition, they receive subsidized housing and food and full health benefits.
