JOB SUMMARY:
Perform research into the mechanisms of the extracellular matrix in retinal development, retinal axon guidance and optic chiasm organization. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator plans and performs experimental work to achieve project goals. Performs molecular, biochemical, cell biological approaches (qPCR, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, Western blot, tissue culture, etc) to obtain data relevant to project. Generates, analyzes, and reports research results to the PI. Maintains the mouse colony and the general operation and organization of the laboratory. Supports the preparation and submission of scientific publications and grant applications. Works collaboratively with other lab members to support the goals of the labs projects. Mentors and trains junior members of the laboratory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology or related discipline with at least 2 years of experience in a basic science laboratory or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced or specialized training/experience in molecular biology or biochemistry.
