Research Support Specialist
The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance of the mouse colony and perform experimental work to further the goals of the laboratory.
Job Summary:
The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance of the mouse colony and perform experimental work to further the goals of the laboratory. Duties related to maintenance of the mouse colony will include setting up timed matings, breeding animals to maintain lines, collecting tissue samples, molecular analysis of samples (genotyping, isolating DNA, PCR, performing DNA electrophoresis), and accurate record keeping. Experimental duties will include assistance with electroporation experiments, induction of gene expression experiments, primary tissue culture, tissue preparation and processing for immunochemistry (frozen sections and vibratome sections) and immunohistochemistry. The incumbent will also be responsible for accurate record keeping of experimental work and reporting results to the Principal Investigator. Enthusiastic individuals should have strong interest in performing research in a collegial/collaborative environment, be willing to work as part of a team, be adaptable to learn new techniques, have willingness to assist the Principal Investigator and other members of the laboratory and possess strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a laboratory with mice preferred, but not required.
Work Days:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 - 5:00; Depending when experiments need to be performed
