The 2016 ACS IREU Program is now open!

Are you looking to learn more about the IREU program for 2016 or seeking other global opportunities? Register for the 2016 IREU Program Webinar (includes tips and tricks on how to be a more competitive applicant!)

About the program

The ACS International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (IREU) and ACS International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) program are bilateral exchanges that allows talented young chemical and materials scientists to spend a summer conducting research in another country.

Students spend 10-12 weeks working on frontier chemical and materials science research projects under the guidance of faculty members and graduate student mentors to sharpen scientific skills, develop collaborations with scientists abroad, and experience the life and culture of a foreign country.

For the summer of 2016, up to 17 students from the United States will be selected to conduct research in Germany, Italy, Singapore, or the United Kingdom through the program.

2016 Summer Research Programs

Summer Research Outside the United States

This portion of the exchange is only for U.S. undergraduate students enrolled at a U.S. institution. Students must be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students do not need to be a member of ACS nor is membership status a criteria used in judging applicants.

For further information on how to apply and the benefits the U.S. students receive, please visit the research outside the U.S. page.

IREU | How to Apply

Undergraduate students enrolled at a U.S. university/college and holding U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may apply to both the ACS IREU program in Germany and the joint program in Italy, Singapore, and the United Kingdom by using the following procedures.
