The Institute for Teaching Excellence & Faculty Development (TEFD) seeks a highly organized Director of Faculty Development Initiatives, a 12-month, full-time lecturer position. The successful candidate will support the professional development of new and early career faculty, as well as design and implement new and/or large-scale initiatives for faculty at all career stages. She or he must be able to work with faculty, administrators, and staff to create meaningful professional development opportunities; be knowledgeable of course design, teaching strategies, and teaching and program assessment methods, and be skilled at implementing complex programs and initiatives. This position will be responsible for a portfolio that includes both teaching development (midterm assessments, teaching observations, Open Classroom Days) and broader faculty development (orientation, mentoring, mid-career and under-represented faculty leadership, and time management). Additional responsibilities will include designing and facilitating workshops and faculty learning communities, as well as researching and sharing emerging pedagogical and professional strategies. 

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree is required; a doctoral degree is preferred; 3-5 years of experience in faculty development and/or instructional design that includes working with faculty; demonstrated knowledge of theory and best practice in course design, teaching methods, and assessment of student learning; demonstrated expertise in current and emerging faculty development issues in higher education; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills; experience in college teaching highly desirable; and demonstrated competence working in partnership with university instructors, administrators, and staff.
