The Kennedy Krieger Institute and the Department of Neuroscience at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine invite applications for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek an individual with strong training in neuroscience as it relates to the basic and/or early translational science of developmental disabilities.  Of particular interest are candidates whose work focuses on the basic mechanisms of, and potential treatments of genetic and/or acquired disorders of the developing nervous system, such as Rett syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, fragile X syndrome, cerebral palsy, acute and chronic stress during development, or other pediatric disorders of the brain, spinal cord, or musculoskeletal system.  An interest in models of clinical disorders is required.

The candidate should have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field, with experience working with multidisciplinary groups.  This individual will be expected to develop an independent research program, interact with clinicians and researchers, serve as a mentor for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows (including clinician-scientists) and teach within the neuroscience program.

This position represents a unique opportunity to interface between The Johns Hopkins Department of Neuroscience and Kennedy Krieger, a non-profit research and clinical institute.  The successful candidate will have a laboratory within the Kennedy Krieger Institute in order to interface with researchers, clinicians and patients.  They will also hold a tenure track appointment in the Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins with all of the responsibilities and privileges of primary faculty in that department.

The Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins has a mission to answer fundamental questions about neural function from molecular, cellular, to circuits, systems and behavioral neuroscience as well as neurological and psychiatric disease. It is ranked in the top 3 neuroscience programs in the US according to US News & World Report.  Areas of strength relevant to this position include strong developmental, molecular and systems neuroscience.

Applicants should send 3 documents, including 1) a curriculum vitae, 2) a 2-page statement of research interests, and 3) the names and addresses of four professional references to: neuro_search@kennedykrieger.org.
