Assistant Professor
Research Faculty Specializing in:
Ecology, Microbial Metagenomics, Cell Physiology-Biochemistry, Systematics, Population Genetics
Requirements: PhD or equivalent degree in Biology and post-doctoral experience. The successful candidate must have a solid academic preparation or background in the areas of Ecology, Microbial Metagenomics, Cell Physiology-Biochemistry, Systematics, Population Genetics and General Biology and must also be committed to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates capable of developing strong interdisciplinary research programs emphasizing either of the following areas: Evolution, Conservation Biology, Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, Phylogenies, Marine Ecology, Ecological modeling, Bioinformatics, Invertebrate Biology, Immunobiology, Biotechnology.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses; conduct research and publish in their areas of specialty; develop proposals seeking external funding, participate actively in departmental activities and projects, as well as those at the College of Natural Sciences and the Río Piedras Campus and fulfill all other obligations of a teaching job.
Teaching Faculty Specializing in:
Organismal and Integrative Biology.
Requirements: PhD or equivalent degree in Biology and post-doctoral experience. Preference will be given to candidates capable of developing strong interdisciplinary research programs emphasizing either of the following areas: Organismal and Integrative Biology.
Responsibilities: Primarily teach and coordinate General biology undergraduate course; coordinate all general Biology teaching laboratories, provide academic counseling for undergraduate students, conduct research and publish in science education; develop proposals seeking external funding, participate actively in departmental activities and projects, as well as those at the College of Natural Sciences and the Río Piedras Campus.
