The National Association of Small Farmers of Cuba (ANAP) is offering a weeklong training workshop in the Farmer-to-Farmer (Campesino a Campesino) methodology which since the 1990s has been essential to the amplification of agroecology across Cuba. CAI is partnering with ANAP to support coordination of the training. All teaching will be done by Cuban staff and members of ANAP. This is a unique opportunity to learn from Cubans directly involved in the Campesino a Campesino movement about their successful methodology. The training will include sessions that cover the theory that supports this methodology as well as on-farm practice sessions.

Event Costs:
The cost for this event is $400 USD. This includes all transportation in country (including airport pickup and drop off and farm visits), three meals a day in the training center’s cafeteria, shared rooms and logistical support before and during the training.

Other costs:

  • Airfare - Each participant is responsible for purchasing their own airfare to Havana.
  • Visa – Each participant needs to solicit a D-1 visa from the Cuban consulate of their country of residence. For US citizens, CAI will coordinate this with you. The cost for this visa from the Cuban consulate in the US is $90USD. The visas take up to 2 months to process. When you register, please fill out and upload the visa application (see below).
  • Interpretation - All activities will be in Spanish. If you require interpretation to English, the cost will be $200 USD per person for the week.

Registration:
Please fill out this form to register. Once registered, CAI staff will follow up with more details, including what to expect during your week in Cuba, tips for purchasing flights, and complying with OFAC sanctions rules. This training is capped at 35 participants. Priority will be given to farmers, farmer associations and their direct allies. Please note that for US citizens and residents, you will also need to fill out and upload this visa application. Registration Deadline: August 22, 2023.
