I am writing to let you know that ASCB is inviting applications for two prizes: the ASCB Kaluza Prize to honor academic excellence in graduate student research, and a brand new prize—The ASCB-Gibco Emerging Leader Prize for non-tenured independent investigators. Applications for both prizes will close on July 31, 2015. Please let your colleagues know about these opportunities for recognition and visibility.

New! ASCB-Gibco Emerging Leader Prize

  • Three $5,000 prizes
  • Top 10 finalists will be recognized at a plenary session at the ASCB Annual Meeting and will meet with senior leaders in their fields at a special event

The prize is the result of a partnership between ASCB and Gibco to support excellence in science. ASCB and Gibco recognize the challenging times that up-and-coming leaders in scientific research face, and are determined to do everything possible to raise the visibility of our most promising young independent investigators who are at an early stage in their careers.

Successful applicants must have outstanding scientific accomplishments with a strong publication track record that will be evaluated on the significance of their discoveries and the contribution to the field of cell biology and basic biomedical research. To be eligible applicants must be independent investigators who are not yet in a tenured position. Both U.S. and international scientists are welcome to apply. Applicants must be ASCB members. Not a member? Not a problem. Join now.

It’s an easy application! Just submit a two-page essay describing key scientific results plus a CV in one combined PDF at http://ascb.org/gibco.

ASCB Kaluza Prize supported by Beckman Coulter

  • Three top winners will receive cash prizes of $5,000, $3,000, and $1,000
  • Top 10 finalists receive travel awards to attend the 2015 ASCB Annual Meeting in San Diego and will be invited to speak at a Minisymposium

All entrants in the competition must be ASCB members who are current graduate students or researchers who received their PhD within two years of this year's application deadline of July 31. Not a member? Not a problem. Join now. Both U.S. and international scientists are welcome to apply. Applicants from previous years who are still within the time window of eligibility may apply again.

Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their research accomplishments (maximum 600 words), plus a CV in one combined PDF at http://ascb.org/kaluzaprizes/.
