2015 Robert I. Larus Award for Outstanding Science Research by a Graduate Student
The Caribbean Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is accepting abstracts for The Robert I. Larus Award for Outstanding Science Research. This award is given to a graduate student that demonstrates excellence in scientific research.
The winner will be selected from competing students presenting posters at the AAAS Caribbean Division 2015 Annual Conference that will be held on September 12, 2015 at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus.
The winner will receive: (1) $500.00; (2) Free membership to the AAAS for one (1) year (includes subscription to Science magazine); (3) Travel (all costs paid) to present the winning poster in the 2016 AAAS Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
Requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Science Graduate Program at a University in the Caribbean Region.
- Submit a research abstract containing: (a) specific questions, hypotheses, and objectives (please highlight the broader impact of the project to the Caribbean region); (b) methodologies; (c) results, and; (d) conclusions. The title of the abstract should not exceed 120 characters (including spaces), followed by the name of the presenting author, co-authors (including the research advisor), address and e-mail. The text of the abstract should not exceed 250 words. Selected abstracts will be presented in a poster session during the AAAS Caribbean Division Annual Conference. Posters must be written in English and should have the following dimensions: 46” x 36”; height x width; portrait layout.
- The winner must be available to travel to present the poster at the AAAS Annual Meeting on February 11-15, 2016 in Washington, DC.
- The winner must be willing to serve as vocal in the AAAS Caribbean Division Board of Directors during 2016.
