Coaching Groups for Grant Proposal Writing and Professional Development

Develop NIH-Style Proposals!

The National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) offers four intensive coaching programs to support postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty interested in enhancing participants' career development and developing strong research and career development proposals for funding in the biomedical or behavioral sciences. 

Program Features: 

  • Paid travel expenses for in-person meetings
  • Token stipends for coaches that complete the training 
  • Networking with colleagues from across NRMN

Requirements:

  • Currently working on a grant proposal, OR
  • Planning to work on a grant proposal in the next year

Programs & Deadlines:

All of these programs offer similar trainings for postdocs and junior faculty. They differ in the length of the training, some of the offerings, and in the application deadlines.

  • Grantwriting Uncovered: Maximizing Strategies, Help, Opportunities, Experiences (GUMSHOE) for Mentees - Deadline: March 28th, 2016 and September 26, 2016
  • Northwestern University Grantwriting Coaching Group for Mentees - Deadline: March 17, 2016
  • Northwestern University Model Grantwriting Coaching Groups for Postdocs and Junior Faculty - Deadline: March 31st, 2016
  • NRMN Steps Towards Academic Research (STAR) Fellowship Program for Mentees -  Deadline: April 5, 2016
  • NRMN Proposal Preparation Program (NMRN-P3) for Mentees - Deadline: May 20, 2016

About NRMN 

NRMN is a nationwide consortium of biomedical professionals and institutions collaborating to provide all trainees across the biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences with evidence-based mentorship and professional development programming that emphasizes the benefits and challenges of diversity, inclusivity and culture within mentoring relationships, and more broadly the research workforce. The goal of the National Research Mentoring Network is to enhance the diversity of the NIH-funded research workforce.
