IIASA Postdoctoral Fellowships

2017 Application Deadlines: 1 April, 1 October

 

Postdoctoral Fellowships are available at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) for researchers in:

 

•Natural and Social Sciences

•Mathematical Sciences and Modelling

•Interdisciplinary and Sustainability Sciences

•Integrated Assessment

•Management and Policy

 

IIASA located in Schloss Laxenburg near Vienna, Austria, provides full funding for a number of postdoctoral researchers each year. Scholars conduct their own research on topics closely related to one or more projects on IIASA's agenda. Postdoctoral positions are of up to 2 years’ duration, and can begin up to 6 months after selection.

 

What is IIASA?

 

IIASA is an international institute engaged in scientific research that aims to provide scientific guidance to scientific to policymakers by finding solutions to global problems through applied systems analysis in order to improve human wellbeing and protect the environment. IIASA’s research comes under the following programs:

 

•Advanced Systems Analysis

•Air Quality and Greenhouse Gases

•Ecosystem Services and Management

•Energy

•Evolution and Ecology

•World Population

•Risk and Resilience

•Water

•Transitions to New Technologies

 

Who can apply?

 

•Candidates should have their PhD at the time of taking up the appointment and are expected to have a proven record of research accomplishments, and a solid working knowledge of English

•Candidates should have held their PhD for less than five years at the application deadline

•The fellowship requires you to be present at IIASA (The typical period for IIASA-funded postdoctoral support is 12-24 months). Please do not apply if you need to be away from the institute to do your research or expect IIASA to fund field research overseas

•Preference will be given to applicants who are nationals of countries where IIASA has a National Member Organization

•Please note: IIASA does not do lab-type research and therefore has no labs
