The Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University has a commitment to increase the participation of students with exceptional ability and promise who will bring a diversity of viewpoints and cultures to the sciences, and who have demonstrated interest and passion for research in the broad field of Molecular and Cellular Biology, to apply for and be appointed as a 2017 MOL BIO Scholar.  MOL BIO Scholars will be selected from a competitive national applicant pool of junior and senior undergraduates for travel to Princeton University from October 5-7, 2017 and participation in the MOL BIO Scholars program. 

Program Outline

Students will arrive October 5 and depart October 8, staying at a hotel near the Princeton University campus, with travel and hotel expenses covered.  MOL BIO Scholars will tour the University and attend workshops on the process of applying to and interviewing for graduate school, resources available to our graduate students, as well as participate in the annual Department of Molecular Biology on-campus retreat.  At the retreat, graduate students and postdocs from each lab in the department highlight their recent research. MOL BIO Scholars will also be given the opportunity to present a poster on their prior research, as well as to engage in informal networking interactions with MOL BIO faculty and graduate students.  It is a great way to preview Princeton and gain insights into the process of applying to graduate school.

Eligibility

U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled in U.S. colleges or universities (including U.S. territories, Guam Puerto Rico). Eligible applicants should hold an academic status of junior or senior by October, 2017. We strongly encourage applications from Minority Serving Institutions such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities or Hispanic Serving Institutions.
