The Center for Scientific Review (CSR) is the portal for NIH grant applications and their review for scientific merit. As the Director of the Division of Neuroscience, Development and Aging,you would be a senior management within CSR and provide leadership to approximately 50 Scientific Review Officers.

Key Requirements:
Applicants must possess an M.D., Ph.D. or an equivalent degree.
This position is being filled under Excepted Service - Title 42

Major Duties:
As the Director of the Division of Neuroscience, Development and Aging, you serve as a senior manager within the Center and provides leadership to approximately 50 Scientific Review Officers (SROs), overseeing program activities conducted by several Initial Review Groups (IRG), supervising 5 IRG Chiefs in managing a broad range of human resources issues, recruiting and mentoring, ensuring that principles and practices related to the conduct of peer review are applied in a consistent manner across the Division, and overseeing management of the Division’s budget allocation.
You provide scientific leadership and management for the Division by tracking critical macro issues related to the broad fields of science within the purview of the Division; advise the Director, CSR, and other NIH officials regarding scientific issues relevant to the Division and its mission; and represent CSR both within and outside of NIH by acting as a liaison and engaging in outside activities.
In addition, you serve as a key member of the Center’s senior leadership team by participating in strategic planning activities for the Center’s scientific and management goals, assisting in the development of principles and practices related to referral and review, and directing the implementation of program and management goals by establishing priorities, coordinating activities, and tracking and reporting progress.
