Minority Trainee Research Forum (MTRF) at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort and Club in Aventura, Florida on September 4 – 7, 2008. MTRF is an invitational scientific meeting showcasing the serious trainees engaged in biomedical research. Selection is based on a national competition of abstracts form wet bench research. Twelve winning abstracts in each educational level will be selected for presentation: 12 postdoctoral trainees; 12 Ph.D. trainees; 12 M.D. / Ph.D. trainees; 12 M.D. trainees; 12 college / postbac trainees; and 12 high school trainees.
Each winner will receive a full travel fellowship (air, hotel, food) to MTRF, where they will give a 10 minute oral presentation and participate in the poster session, seminars, and awards dinner. We will have an expanded poster session daily for those trainees who were not among the award winners. This poster session is open to those trainees who have their own travel funds. Invitations are targeted towards underrepresented groups in the biomedical arena (African Americans, Native Americans, Mexican Americans, Mainland Puerto Ricans, Pacific Islanders, and Hawaiians / Alaskans).
The deadline for abstract submissions is July 30, 2008.
