The BioMed X Institutes in Heidelberg, Germany and New Haven, Connecticut are opening their crowdsourcing platform to help U.S.-based academic principal investigators in biomedical research who have lost their NIH funding to continue their research in a well-funded research environment at the interface between academia and the pharma industry. All research projects focusing on exploration of human disease biology, identification of novel therapeutic targets, or development of new therapeutic concepts in any human disease area are in scope. We provide state-of-the-art wet lab infrastructure and computational capabilities, as well as access to neighboring academic core facilities in Heidelberg and New Haven.
We are inviting all research group leaders and principal investigators who have lost or are at risk of losing their NIH funding to submit their NIH grant proposals online at our BioMed X Career Space. Participation is free of charge. Under strict confidentiality, we will provide access to researchers at our global pharma partners who will evaluate your proposals and can express interest in funding your research project. We will then host the selected researchers (and eventually their lab members) at one of our BioMed X Institutes in Heidelberg, Germany or New Haven, Connecticut, fully funded by one of our pharma partners. With this program, we intend to bridge up to 10 research groups who have lost their NIH funding for a period of up to 5 years.
