The world needs to hear from diverse scientists and engineers who want to engage with communities and catalyze change. If that sounds like you, we highly encourage you to apply for a new science communication fellowship program designed for faculty of color. The University of Rhode Island’s Metcalf Institute, Michigan State University’s Knight Center for Environmental Journalism, and the URI Science and Story Lab are launching the first of three year-long science communication training fellowships. Applications are now open for the inaugural program, which runs from Jan-Dec 2023, and focuses on faculty who study energy and climate change. The fellowship includes two one-week immersive trainings, as well as six bi-monthly remote training modules.
Fellows receive a $5,000 stipend, travel reimbursement, and editorial mentorship and support to develop and produce science-based podcast episodes. Pre-tenure faculty at U.S. institutions who identify as a member of an underrepresented racial/ethnic group are encouraged to apply by September 12th, 2022.
