The Laboratory Leadership Service (LLS) is a 2-year laboratory training fellowship that provides early career laboratory scientists with a strong foundation for future leadership and management positions in laboratories conducting public health research or providing clinical or environmental testing services.
 
The LLS fellowship:
  • Provides high-quality training that focuses on biosafety, quality management systems, and management and leadership competencies
  • Includes a unique curriculum, core activities for learning, and mentorship to focus on the requirements of public health laboratories
  • Aligns with CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) fellowship program to promote interdisciplinary training, applied learning, and networking
To be eligible for LLS, you must have:
  • A doctoral-level degree in a laboratory related discipline (e.g., microbiology, molecular biology, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, genetics, bioinformatics); other health professionals are welcome to apply, but must also hold a relevant doctoral-level degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate laboratory experience (e.g., serving as a laboratory scientist in clinical, public health, research, or industry laboratory), in addition to any laboratory work done as a part of graduate training
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident status
