Hola Amigos de CienciaPR: El Dr. Carlos Crespo, miembro de CienciaPR y profesor de Case Western Reserve University nos informa que hay una oportunidad unica para aquellos estudiantes que quieran seguir una carrera en medicina o en ciencias biomedicas. Case tiene un programa de verano que necesita llenar con estudiantes minoritarios (como nosotros los puertorriqueños) y no consiguen personas. Todavia hay 5-7 posiciones abiertas. Case es la mejor universidad del estado de Ohio en el area biomedica segun US News. Ellos tienen un partnership con Cleveland Clinic. Asumo, que la investigacion podria estar haciendose alla. The deadline is February 1, 2008 Research Opportunities We will have opportunities for interested candidates who belong to groups that are under represented in medicine, non-traditional students, low income, and or 1st generation college students to enroll in the Heart, Lung, and Blood Minority Research Training Program. This program will provides undergraduates and medical students with an opportunity to undertake state-of-the-art biomedical research. in cardiovascular, pulmonary, hematological, and sleep disorders research. This program also provides students the opportunity to experience the excitement, challenges and rewards of a career in biomedical research. The program provides mentored research training with outstanding investigators. Undergraduates students who are not funded under the Heart, Lung, and Blood grant, may be funded from other sources where the compensation may be different. Financial Support Students conducting research for our program must work a minimum of two month, but a maximum of 3 months and will receive $1,730 a month compensation. We will provide up to $500 in travel expenses to Cleveland and back to your home. A weekly luncheon speaker series will be held for the students. All students are provided with health insurance for the duration of the program and $400 for assistance with housing and meals.
