The John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University is pleased to announce the call for applications for a Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) in public affairs with specialties in science and technology policy or energy policy. The position will support one student for doctoral studies at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Preference will be given to a scholar who wishes to study knowledge creation, network dynamics and visualization, and/or whose interests align with The Ohio State University’s Discovery Themes: Energy and Environment; Food Production and Security; and Health and Wellness. More information about the interdisciplinary Discovery Themes can be found at http://discovery.osu.edu/. Research topics can include, but are not limited to, research and development dynamics and knowledge dissemination in any of the Discovery Themes; complex systems theory approaches to energy distribution and pricing; public administration and regulation of technology; or globalization and its impacts on national and regional industrial competitiveness.

Applicants with a commitment to a career in public affairs research are invited to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate a superior academic record as well as public-mindedness reflected by service. In addition to those with social, behavior or natural sciences backgrounds, those with non-traditional backgrounds such as engineering, linguistics and other relevant disciplines are welcome to apply.

The GRA may carry with it up to four-years on a funded graduate appointment, offering full coverage of tuition costs and a monthly stipend. Funding to travel to conferences may also be made available as appropriate. Maintaining the GRA position is contingent upon satisfactory progress in the degree program and requires 20 hours of work per week.

In order to be considered for this opportunity, students MUST APPLY TO THE PUBLIC POLICY AND MANAGEMENT PHD PROGRAM BY THE PRIORITY DEADLINE OF DECEMBER 1, 2016.  Information about applying can be found at http://glennschool.osu.edu/prospective/doctoral/doctoral.html.
