Technician position available

A research technician position is available in the Department of biology at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez beginning July 1, 2008. An individual will be hired on contract basis and will be funded through an external grant. The basic responsibilities of this research technician will be to transfer plants from in vitro conditions to soil, planting in the fields, gather data from field growing plants, statistical analysis of data, maintenance and management of the plants in the field, sample collecting, packaging and shipping and to keep excellent records. This individual should be proficient in Microsoft office software and have excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (speaking, writing and reading). Experience with plant tissue culture techniques will be a plus. The individual should have a B.S. degree with 2 years experience or a M.S. degree and should be in possession of a valid driver’s license. Salary will be between $1340 - $1690 per month plus health insurance.
