Frontiers in Aging and Regeneration Research: Translating MSTEM in Aging Research from the Lab to the Clinic and Beyond to be held at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA from May 15-20, 2016.  The application deadline is April 1. Please see the attached flyer.

FrARR trains and mentors promising junior and senior undergraduates from predominately under-represented communities in sophisticated aging research and regenerative medicine technologies, and encourages and supports them as they embark on graduate studies in MSTEM fields.  The course is an intensive 'hands-on' lecture and lab course that course is designed for students who seek to develop into independent scientists, physicians or Ph.D. investigators and are both passionate about research careers in aging and regeneration and well prepared to build on their existing skills in MSTEM.  The course offers a fresh series of daily lecturers on emerging concepts, followed by extended discussions and laboratory research as well as career advancement strategies over a week-long period.

Additionally, the FrARR course provides trainees with the opportunity for Mentored Research and Pilot Research.  The process of matching the trainee to the mentor typically begins with informal discussions between the two principals during the week of the FrARR course. The trainees are encouraged to select both research problems and knowledgeable mentors, and preliminary plans are presented at the Course’s concluding ceremony.  Applications for the Pilot Research Sponsorship are submitted jointly by the mentoring partners and reviewed by the Course Program Directors. Applications deemed meritorious are sponsored.  Those with minor concerns are returned the Trainee and Mentor with the abbreviated reviews.  Corrections and/or improvements are requested so that the sponsorship can be provided.

Please download the application at www.pdc.magee.edu or email FrARR at pdc@pdc.magee.edu with any questions.  Financial aid is available for 100% of costs (including tuition, room and board, travel, meals).
